Thank you for purchasing jewelry from Candace Stribling Jewelry. Here are some tips for keeping your jewelry in good condition so you can wear it for many years to come.
Always remove your jewelry when housecleaning, using abrasive cleansers, bathing, or swimming. The chemicals can damage your pieces.
Metals such as sterling silver, gold-filled, and copper will tarnish over time if proper care is not given. To prevent tarnishing:
- Use an anti-tarnish jewelry strip. All jewelry is shipped with an anti-tarnish strip.
- Store the jewelry in a plastic zip-lock bag, anti-tarnish jewelry pouch or jewelry box.
- Save the silica gel packs that come with prescription medicines or in handbags or shoes. These are excellent for placing in your jewelry boxes.
Please be aware that sterling silver is 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% copper. It is the copper that causes the tarnishing and some people's body chemistry will react with the copper in the sterling silver which may turn your skin green or blackish.
When polishing your jewelry, use 100% cotton or specially made polishing cloths.
Always use jewelry cleaners made expressly for the type of cleaning. Some cleaners can damage certain natural stones.
Protect your jewelry by storing in separate boxes as some soft materials/stones such as pearls, lapis, malachite, turquoise and opals can be easily scratched.
