Finding Joy During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

There’s a monster among us, silently and stealthily robbing us of our sense of calm. I don’t know about you, but Coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected my sense of well-being. My heart goes out to the families all around the world that have been personally impacted by this horrible virus and the lives lost way too soon.

You are probably feeling scared, uncertain, and unsettled.  I get it.  I feel the same things as you.

But I want to tell you even though things seem out of control, you are still in control.  You can make the decision to cave into the pressure and uncertainty or you can decide to gather your inner resources and pull through this.  During such chaos and sadness, you can find joy.

There’re some things you can do to gain control during these chaotic times.   When you have control, you can regain your sense of well-being.

Finding Joy

choose joy text

Find joy in the little things.  A beautiful sunset, flowers starting to bloom, a child’s infectious laughter, the funny things that our furry ones do that make us smile.  Laugh, smile, dance if you feel like it.  It’s okay to feel joy in the midst of sadness.

How are you finding your Joy?

Looking Out for Each Other

Follow the guidelines established by medical experts (CDC, WHO).  Practice physical distancing.   I like this term rather than social distancing.  Physical distancing does not mean you can’t stay in touch with your friends, family, neighbors, and community.   There are many tools available - Facetime, Zoom, and Skype—that allows you to stay connected.

Use this time to reconnect with people.  It only takes a few seconds to tell someone- ‘Checking in.  How are you doing?  If you need to talk, I am always here to listen’ or a simple I love you’.   I check in with my BFFs daily just to let them I know I care.

Getting Creative

As hard as it may be, use this time at home to get creative.

It will take your mind off current events, relax you, and keep your stress levels down.  Exercise, play games with your children, walk, meditate, paint and dance like no one is watching.

Dress up, wear your jewelry.  It's good for the soul.

Above all, self-care is important now more than ever.

As a jewelry designer, I know that sterling silver can be quickly shined and polished.  All that’s required is a little love.  For sterling silver, it’s a polishing pad. For you, it’s all about self-care.   Bad days can be shined and polished with just a little love.

How are you caring for yourself?

How I’m Making Use of This Time

I’m taking this time to rethink my business and come up with ways I can better serve you, my customers, now and in the future.  This time has allowed me to reconnect with my creative side, and I am working on new jewelry designs that I’m excited about. I am also planning and working on a new and more inviting look for my website. I will share as I get farther along in the website redesign.

At Candace Stribling Jewelry, I aim to:

  • To provide exciting one-of-a-kind jewelry. Never mass-produced.
  • To use high quality recycled sterling silver metal and ethically sourced colored gemstones sourced from reputable suppliers.
  • Provide tips on how to care for your sterling silver jewelry (sign up for my email to find out more)
  • Take you into my world of jewelry design so you know where your jewelry is coming from.  An artist you can know and trust
  • Above all, to provide an easy online shopping experience for you, my valued customers.

Online shopping might become the new normal. I want you to feel that shopping on my website gives you the same feeling as shopping in-person. I’m here to guide you in selecting the right jewelry that speaks to you, fits your personality and lifestyle – that helps you find your joy

Life will return to normal

It always does. One of my favorite quotes that I say when I’m uncertain or face adversity is ‘This too shall pass.’

Repeating this passage as a mantra has always helped to calm my fears and remind me that the hard times and uncertainty will soon be behind me. Keep the faith that things do get better. If we work together and help each other, this crisis will be behind us.   Yes, this too shall pass.

Be safe, stay well, and I'm here for you.  Share what you are doing to cope. Comment below. I would love to hear. You never know that what you are doing may help someone else.
